BMS names Alex Tesei as director of European energy reinsurance, calls climate a dominant market issue

BMS Group has announced further expansion of its specialty energy practice with the hire of Alex Tesei as director of European energy reinsurance.

Tesei holds almost two and a half decades of industry experience, having spent ten years building up and leading the reinsurance division of Ribé Salat in Spain, specialising in facultative reinsurance.

Earlier in his career, Tesei served for four years as managing director of Brex Re, also based in Spain.

Before joining BMS, he was head of facultative insurance at K.M.Dastur Ltd, in London.

Throughout his career Tesei has specialised in setting up and developing companies and departments, driving revenue growth, identifying niche market opportunities and spearheading territorial expansion into international markets.

In the new role, he will report to James Chicken, BMS’ managing director of energy, and will be based in London.

Chicken commented, “We are delighted to welcome Alex and we look forward to leveraging his know-how and experience as well as contacts in European markets to expand and complement our global reach. European energy is a dominant issue of the moment from wholesale prices to critical geo-political considerations and climate change.

“BMS is determined to be the most responsive, dynamic, and expert wholesale intermediary in the energy insurance sector and today’s announcement shows yet again that we continue to attract top market talent supporting our growth and the evolution of this market.”
