Nephila’s Darren Toh moves across to Climate team

 Darren Toh, a portfolio strategy focused employee of insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager Nephila Capital, has moved across to the firm’s weather and climate risk focused division, Nephila Climate.

Toh joined Nephila back in 2016, first as an intern on the research side at Nephila Advisors, working at the ILS managers San Francisco office, before moving into his first full time role at Nephila Capital as a Junior Portfolio Analyst, based in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2017.

He then became a Portfolio Analyst at Nephila in 2018, before making a move to live in Bermuda and transitioning into a trading strategy related role at the ILS manager a year later.

In 2020, Toh was promoted to Portfolio Strategist at Nephila Capital, giving him more oversight of insurance and reinsurance-linked investment portfolios and helping to develop them for the ILS manager’s investor clients.

In August 2021, Toh was promoted again, becoming a Senior Portfolio Strategist at Nephila Capital.

This month, April 2022, Toh has stepped across to join the Nephila Climate team, again in a Senior Portfolio Strategist role.

We understand this is on a temporary basis, as a secondment, to build portfolio strategy resource within the Nephila Climate operation at a time when climate and weather risk focused risk transfer and investment strategies are increasingly in-demand.

Before he joined Nephila, Toh had worked in insurance and reinsurance in Singapore, with roles at Prudential Assurance Company, AXA and Validus Re.
